Lancot Challenger Academy
The Project
RAM Building Consultancy was brought in to help a primary school that was struggling to keep up with the demand for teaching space due to an increase in pupil numbers. The school also needed additional office space for staff to work in a quiet and functional environment.
The Challenges
With teaching facilities not expanding at the same rate as student enrollment, the school faced a significant challenge in accommodating both students and staff. The lack of adequate classroom and office space was becoming a barrier to the school's ability to function efficiently and comfortably.
The Solution
RAM conducted a feasibility study and developed budget plans in collaboration with the academy trust to ensure they could maximize their space within the available budget. We also completed initial designs for two additional classrooms, along with toilet facilities and a new office space. The scheme was tendered through RAM’s approved supply chain to ensure high-quality execution within the project's constraints.
The Results
Once planning approval was obtained, the contract was awarded to R1 Construction, based on both cost and quality. The project began within four weeks of approval and was completed within an eight-week timeframe, just in time for the start of the 2020 September school term. The school now has the necessary space to accommodate its growing number of students and provide staff with a quiet and functional office area.
