The Project
RAM Building Consultancy was appointed by the Aspire Academy Trust to address the deteriorating condition of the school’s heating system. The threat of a complete breakdown was imminent, and the school needed to replace three aging gas boilers and the associated pipework to ensure reliable heating.
The Challenges
The existing heating system had significantly deteriorated over the years, posing a real risk of failure. The challenge was to secure funding and replace the boilers before they reached the point of complete breakdown, while ensuring minimal disruption to the school’s operations.
The Solution
RAM conducted a free condition survey of the school’s heating system to gather the necessary evidence for a successful Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) bid. After securing over £250,000 in funding, RAM was appointed as Lead Designer, Principal Designer, and Contract Administrator for the project. We managed the programme of works, including all Health and Safety requirements, from start to finish. The works were tendered before the CIF bid submission, ensuring a smooth transition once funding was approved.
The Results
The project was completed on time and within budget, delivering a new, energy-efficient heating system for the school. The upgraded boilers have significantly reduced the academy’s utility costs, allowing those savings to be reinvested into other areas of the school. The client was highly satisfied with the outcome, both in terms of quality and financial savings.
